How old is old?
by joey jojo inhaving a conversation with a pimi elder and i asked him how he deals with the fact that he never expected to get old.
i get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.
so my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

Going in different directions
by dothemath inwas visiting with some old friends a while ago, and got to hear some interesting updates about their congregation.. there is a new family moved in, from the ukraine, and are very zealous.
when giving their experience (they're quite new in the "truth") they feel strongly that the religion has changed their life.. they were ready to divorce, but from studying the bible, etc., they are now a happy family.. its really a yearbook type example that make a lot witnesses feel vindicated.. on the other extreme, in the same congregation, a teenager just graduating (an elders son) just up and left and moved in with a "worldly" family.
he told his parents he doesn't believe it's the truth, and actually believes in evolution.. he was being "encouraged" to get baptized, but he managed to avoid that.

Every married person gets to the ready for divorce, but most do not; they move past their immature outlooks. There are success stories all over. Moving to a different country and culture will reinforce the family too.
The same story can be told aboutmany teens helped by friends, not just JWs.
There was a young sister here who went to college and got pregnant. Proof college is bad. I get yelled at when i point out she was hot to trot anyway so would have ended up a pregnant bethelute

True, but actuary tables have changed little for people who attain adulthood. Child mortality plays a big role. For adults the modifiers are war, famine, and disease. Now better medical care and vaccines increase life expectancy but not quality. I do wonder how many actuaries left records from bible times.

The bible standard of 70 or 80 still holds. Few 80ish people make 90, hardly any 100
Aches, declining functions befall is all. Not to mention cancer and unforseen things. You may feel 50 is old, but wait

In the past 10 years or so with the exception of born ins I have seen only one normal person come in. And will have to watch him to see how it plays out. Alk the rest have been low IQ misfits or ones needing medication. Lots of the young ones fade and disappear or get DF

What was the retirement plans you heard brothers talk about if any

i had one brother who would pioneer as he could afford and when he paid off his home he was about to collect social security.
he made enough that his plan was to work two to three days a week and pioneer the rest of the week.

by scruffmcbuff ini was driving through the high street in highbrooms, royal tunbridge wells, uk yesterday.. in amongst the shop fronts was something ive never seen before.
a large shop front with big glass windows,posters in the windows saying "start your free bible study today" (or something along those lines.
where the shop name would be there was a large jw.org logo and a blue banner.
